Straight-weaving
Straight
weaving, done on various smaller tabletop looms, has an illusive history;
however original woven pieces have been found & documented from early - mid
1800's, and some documented woven sashes & garters similar to this style
dating early - mid 1700's. |

Beading
Although I cannot utilize beads in the center of the design as
in finger-weaving, I frequently use small 5/0 glass pony beads as an edging to
further enhance the border of a strap. Colors currently available are red,
white, black & gold. Interested in original beads for the edging on a
strap? Contact Bob Winters!

Card-weaving
The
technique of card-weaving is one of the oldest forms of weaving in history as it
has been practiced for many thousands of years. The evidence of early card-weaving
has been found through many countries. So far a weaving card from a 4th Century
B.C. Spanish grave has been the earliest evidence found.

Brocades
This
is a technique of intricate patterns & designs which are individually raised
above the rest of the woven threads, creating more of a 3-Dimensional
appearance.

Lettering
The art of weaving names, dates, initials & phrases into
straps or garters is another old art-form. My style of lettering is reproduced
from a wool sash attached to a powder horn dating October 16, 1755.
